Portainer with Traefik as reverse proxy

Hi All!

I have not written a blog post for a while! Many things went by and I had many projects and even a new job. For quite a while I’ve started to become interested in Docker since my new job requires a daily usage.

Personally I use Docker Swarm. It is simple to use, the compose files are easy to read and it’s simple to manage a small cluster for personal projects and applications. I want to go into my setup in another blog post at another date but for now, let’s discuss the latest release of Portainer, a web interface to manage your swarm cluster!

Creating a school program for absolute FPV Beginners

Hey Guys!

First of all, Happy New Year :D!
January the 14th marked the date of the first “Beta” lessons of the newly founded school Dracer. The idea behind it is simple: at the beginning, the people who are on the verge of joining the hobby need a last push so they actually enter it. People with interest but no idea how to start or where to look. People that think the videos of all the pilots around the world look amazing and want to more know about them. In the long run, we want to have categories of expertise and also technical courses. I mean, what the hell is all that TXRXESCFCOSDLIPO stuff.

Now, with the first class of 30 completed, we can proudly announce that the result was amazing! People were laughing, happy at the end, asking questions, following up and most importantly, hooked. This has worked so much better than anticipated, but of course, we hit a few bumpers so I’ll try to write them down for future reference and other people to see. There is really is much to learn!

Having fun =D

Review: ZTW Flash 30A Blheli_s ESC – DSHOT compatible!

Lies den Artikel auf Deutsch

Hey Guys!

ztw2I have received the ZTW Flash 30A Escs for testing purposes. Thank you Elektromodelle.ch for providing them!

They are installed on my new main rig, the ImpulseRC Helix – the rig I used to fly at the DroneWorlds World championship and the International Competition in Korea. Coming from KISS ESCs, I obviously had my doubts but after flying this quad for a while now, I can say that the ZTWs are super smooth and I d
on’t have to worry about anything!

So, the swiss drone nationals just happened. It was an amazing three day event! Thank you Yann Oeffner so much for organizing this event – I had a heck of a time and I am sure that a lot of people enjoyed it just as much as I did. I met a lot of new people, talked about so many topics, shared information, new insights everywhere!

Graupner GR-16: Removal of the casing

Hey Racers!

Naturally, you want your racer as light as possible, as compact as possible and remove all “useless” weight. I use a Graupner radio which has SumD (Similar to sbus) and meets all my requirements. I like the higher build quality of a Graupner radio in comparison to the most common used in the Racing scene, the Frsky Taranis.

The Reciever for the Grauper radio I use is a GR-16. It’s one of the smaller ones, but I really wanted to make it use even less space. I searched online for help about removing the casing which was sadly fruitless so I decided to do an adventure on my own.

VMware: Broken snapshot, last resort solution

Hey Guys!

So, imagine you are in the following situation:

You have a “enterprise” backup software like Veeam running. Now, for some reason the file level restore doesn’t work at 2 a.m. and you start to slightly panic. You don’t notice that you have a snapshot running on the virtual machine and the next thing you do, is a disk file restore to just completely replace the disk with the wrong or faulty data.

With that, you have fucked up. Sadly, this enterprise level software doesn’t recognize that there is an active snapshot running on the vm, and just replaces the faulty disk. This results in a broken snapshot chain because you replace the disk running an active snapshot with the same disk from an earlier time, which didn’t have a snapshot running. What does that lead to?

  • You cannot remove any snapshot anymore
  • Veeam depends on snapshots and thus, you won’t be able to backup anymore
  • This is a productive system, very dangerous not to have any backup

Now, how do you remove that snapshot without any risk of data loss and/or corruption?

Build log Alien 5″

Hi Pilots!

Here is my Build log of my current FPV Acro/Racing boat. Generally, I am very happy and impressed by the Alien Frame, coming from a ZMR250 v2 from FPVModel. I love my ZMR250 Frame, its very sturdy and was a good frame for my first flights I did in FPV. As a first step into FPV Racing, I still recommend a ZMR250 v2 frame as its very cheap and hard to break ( I actually wasn’t able to break it at all ).

Part List:

  • Lumenier LUX Flightcontroller
  • xNova 2204-2300KV Motors
  • Flyduino KISS 24A Race ESCs
  • HS1177 FPV Camera
  • TBS Core PNP50
  • ImpulseRC Alien 5″ Frame
  • HoTT GR-16 Reciever
  • Lumenier TX5G25 VTX
  • Some build materials

Let’s get started!
